As part of the Erasmus+ programme, I had the opportunity to visit the University of Kortrijk between the 17th and 21st April 2018.
At the beginning of the Erasmus activities at the Vocational Education Academy, I managed to conclude a cooperation agreement with this Belgian University. Therefore, the aim of my visit this time was the evaluation of our long-term partnership as well as exploring new possibilities for future cooperation. The decreasing number of exchange activities was also an important topic of the discussions with the responsible colleagues at VIVES.
Joris Hyndrickx – President of VIVES
Eveline Le Roy – Head Internationalisation Social Work
Johan Cottyn – Head Internationalisation Business Studies & ICT
Larissa De Blauwe – Director Marketing and Communication
Els Callens – Head Internationalisation Teacher Training Vives departments
I am sincerely thankful to Annemie van den Dries, who organised these contacts for me. Annemie was my negotiating partner when the first agreement was concluded in 1996.
The VIVES University Kortrijk offers interesting and extensive courses to students. In addition to the traditional subjects for teacher education, a special programme for Erasmus+ students and teachers has also been developed. This programme is offered in Kortrijk, as well as at two other VIVES locations in Torhout and Brügge/Bruges. Additionally, there is an extensive agreement for teacher training with the study offers of the University College of Teacher Education Vienna..
During my stay, there was an exchange of experiences with different teaching methods and approaches to teacher training. An important topic of discussion was the increase of exchange activities between VIVES and the University College of Teacher Education Vienna.
The highlight of my social activities was an event called “Cultural Evening – Friends from India”. The event was organised by exchange students from the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Cochin, Kerala, India. I had an insight into the approach to education in India as well as the courses that VIVES offers to exchange students.
Once again, the visit to this partner university was productive and enriching for both sides.
