After consulting with the International Office of the University College of Teacher Education Vienna, I had the opportunity to do an Erasmus trip in the academic year 2017/18. I could choose between Warsaw and Krakow, and I decided to go to Krakow.
There I had the opportunity to work with the colleagues at the institute of German Studies for three days. In addition to professional exchange and discussions about possible cooperation in the future, I was also able to teach as part of the practical language training of the master’s programme in Krakow. I received interesting information about the curriculum, as well as the objectives during and after the studies at the Pedagogical University Krakow. It was just as interesting to visit the translation and interpreting seminars, which are part of the German Studies in Krakow. It was particularly surprising for me that the varieties of the German language were strongly considered, such as the Austrian German in the context of translating official documents.
The exchange provided me with the opportunity to teach German as a foreign language in a university setting after a long break. My special thanks go to the colleagues in Krakow and the International Office of the University College of Teacher Education Vienna, who supported me before my trip and helped with any organisational issues.
