From 22 to 26 May I had the opportunity to participate in the BASS of the TNEU - Ternopil National Economic University - in Ukraine with the topic Internationalization of Higher Education.
I also had the chance to participate as a lecturer. Before my arrival and in the Ukraine, I was excellently supported by our project partner Dr. Olga Tsaryk.
My colleague Birgit Höfler from the IO - International Office of the Vienna University of Education - was in Ternopil at the same time. Before I left for the conference in Bukowel in the Eastern Carpathians with my colleagues from TNEU on 23 May, she was available for questions about the International Programme of the IO for Incomings and clarified further details. In addition to the staff mobilities already taking place for teachers and administrative staff, an International Programme for Incomings - and thus the opportunity for student mobility - will be offered at the TNEU beginning in autumn 2019. In several previous visits, our colleague Holger Winkelmaier, BEd. had already put a lot of things on track, now it was only a matter of clarifying the last details.
My presentation at the BASS in Bukowel took place on May 24th. I introduced the Vienna University of Education for Teacher Education and the International Office and discussed the areas of responsibility of our colleagues. The main topics were our projects and partnerships - especially with the Ukraine - and the implementation of mobility programmes.
In other lectures given by my colleagues, I received input on foreign language teaching, international communication, study programmes with universities in the USA, Canada and Japan and the use of digital media in university teaching.
An essential aspect of the conference was networking during the lecture-free time. This enabled me to establish numerous contacts with other participants with the prospect of potential new work projects.
