The Erasmus+ stay at the University of Uppsala provided me with the opportunity to engage in numerous talks with staff from different faculties such as educational science, didactics and pedagogy as well as experts in the fields of university administration and the HR department.
The University of Uppsala is not only the first Swedish University, but with its founding year of 1477 also Scandinavia’s oldest University.
The talks were held in the building Blåsenhus, one of the most modern facilities of the University of Uppsala. Afterwards, it was possible to visit the building of the central University administration Segerstedthus as part of a round tour.
At the first meeting with the Erasmus coordinator, I obtained an overview of the University Uppsala together with important information on the program that was offered during my Erasmus stay. After that, I took part in a round tour throughout the building Blåsenhus.
In the context of the meeting with the staff from the faculties of educational science, didactics and pedagogy, we were discussing issues dealing with internal organization, coordination, the staff database as well as the process documentation.
A further priority was the participation in a meeting of the University’s administrative international network. In the meeting, the experts discussed the various international projects of the University of Uppsala.
Moreover, I had a meeting with the staff of the international faculty and staff services. I gained in-depth knowledge on the structure of the University of Uppsala and received vital information about the different support services for international researchers, speakers, PhD candidates and administrative staff. More particularly, the focus was put on wording and implementation of public relation services such as: the welcome folder, incorporation and actualization of the initial general information for international visitors on the website, as well as the development and implementation of a corporate identity.
The stay in Uppsala has left numerous lasting impressions. I was especially impressed by the generous and warm hospitality. The mutual professional exchange represented an enrichment for my personal as well as my professional development.
