Delegation from Ukraine at PH Wien

On Tuesday, 16th June 2015, we received a delegation of nine people, including the deputy education minister of Ukraine, Mr. Oleg Derevianko, and several members of the University of Educational Management in Kiev, which is responsible for teacher education and management training nationwide.

Deputy education minister of Ukraine Oleg Derevianko

Since 2004 KulturKontakt Austria has been cooperating with Ukraine in the field of Education. In the context of this cooperation questions concerning the qualifications of Austrian school principals and the quality assurance system of the Austrian education system arose.

After the welcome address, given by deputy principal Mag. Barbara Huemer, principal Viktor Oliynyk of the National Academy of Educational Sciences in Kiev introduced the academy as well as the delegation. Dr. Thomas Bauer, director of the International Office at PH Wien, opened – to everyone’s surprise in Ukrainian – with a presentation of the educational functions of PH Wien. Mag. Ulrike Lehner-Stift, head of the training course school management of secondary schools, gave then a talk about all aspects of education and training in the area of school management.

After lunch break all guests had time for personal encounters and conversations over coffee and cake.

Two experts in the field of school quality for general education, namely MEd. Simone Atzesberger and Mag. Birgitt Stolba, introduced school quality for general education as a new quality initiative of the ministry as well as PH Wien’s role in its implementation.

Mag. Ursula Mauric concluded with a short overview of the organisation and the strategic objective of Austria’s nationwide Leadership Academy.

All presented topics were met with great interest and led to lively discussions and active communication. The successful event created a strong foundation for continued collaboration and strengthened the relations between Austria and Ukraine.
