Erasmus+ exchange at the University of Osnabruck

The goal of my Erasmus+ staff training exchange was to get to know the University of Osnabruck’s various departments including their structures and internal processes. Mrs. Mirja Kekeritz, staff member of the institute of education and teacher training, created an interesting and extensive programme for my visit.

During the four days of my stay I got to know the following departments:

The Faculty of Educational and Cultural Sciences consists of a number of varied courses: Educational Sciences, Protestant, Islamic and Catholic Theology, Musical Sciences and Music Education, Basic Social and Science Studies, Sports Sciences.

The Centre for Teacher Education is central to all aspects of teacher training at the University of Osnabruck. The tasks of the centre include the development of curricula and the support of subject areas, planning and developing concepts of school practice, support of the dean of students, teacher training projects, research support, training of teachers, overlapping information management as well as accreditation and reaccreditation.

The marketing and communication department is not only responsible for traditional press affairs, but also for almost all disciplines of higher education communication such as marketing and public relations. The department also develops and maintains the Corporate Design and is concerned with event and project management.

Tasks of the International Office:

Establishing and maintaining international relations, execution of projects with higher education institution partners, continuous expansion of international networks as well as consulting and support of incoming and outgoing students, doctoral candidates and researchers.

The office of the president is run by a committee. The committee members work independently within their respective divisions and are assigned to corresponding organizational units of the administration department. The office of the president coordinates interdepartmental matters and is the main contact point for inquiries. In collaboration with department 4 (central administrative, academic and legal concerns) it supports the committee’s work and organises the duties of each committee member’s secretariat.

I was warmly received and well taken care of by all employees. The exchange was a very interesting and instructive experience.
