My study trip began on December 3rd 2017, when I boarded a flight to Barcelona. After two hours, I arrived at the airport, where I took a bus to go to the city centre. The following morning, there was an evaluation test at 9:30 at the language school. Nine people from Austria, Germany, Poland and Liechtenstein attended it. After the short test, I was assigned to a slightly advanced group with 5 participants.
Classes took place every day from 9:30 am to 2.30 pm, including a short break.
While the teacher seemed to be outstanding, the content of the class could have been better chosen, in my opinion, as we focused too much on one single grammar point: the different past tenses of Spanish.
On two afternoons, the school’s staff took us to the old town of Barcelona and to a museum. The city centre of Barcelona proved to be just as crowded in winter as in summer. The public transport system seems to be well functioning and the city also offers a couple of bars and restaurants of high quality.
Altogether, it was not only a very productive week, but also a week of positive encounters with people of different European nationalities.
